The people behind every sign
BP Signs is led by a practical team that understands the pace of Durban work sites, coastal weather and the pressure of getting a business open on time. We handle everything from small shopfront jobs to larger rollout work for multi-site clients, and each person here plays a specific role in getting the job done.
That means better coordination, fewer delays and clearer communication from the first enquiry through to final installation. We work from Briardene, Durban North and travel across eThekwini, including Umhlanga, Pinetown, Westville, Phoenix, Verulam, Ballito and Tongaat.
Leadership that keeps the jobs moving
Bongani Patrick Zulu, our Managing Director, has guided BP Signs since 2008. He oversees the bigger picture of the business, from quoting and project planning to making sure each sign meets the practical needs of the site. His focus is on straight answers, reliable turnaround and work that stands up to Durban heat, rain and salt air.
Nokuthula Mkhize, our Operations Manager, keeps the day-to-day work organised. She manages scheduling, material flow and job progress, which is especially important when several installations are lined up in the same week. Her attention to detail helps the team stay on track, even when load-shedding or changing access times affect a site.
- Project coordination and scheduling
- Client updates and job tracking
- Keeping fabrication and installation aligned
Production and fabrication in careful hands
Sashen Naidoo, our Production Supervisor, looks after the making of signs in the workshop. He handles the setup and checking of vinyl cutting, digital print work, lamination and fabrication so the finished pieces are ready for installation. Clean edges, accurate sizing and proper finishing matter here, because a small mistake on paper becomes a bigger problem on site.
Our production work covers light boxes, Chromadek signs, Perspex and ABS boards, roll-up banners, frosted glass film and contra-vision applications. Sashen works closely with the design and sales side so measurements, materials and fitting methods all line up before anything leaves the workshop.
Design and artwork that fit the brief
Priya Govender, our Graphic Designer, prepares artwork and layout work for print and signage. She sets files correctly for large format printing, adjusts artwork for viewing distance and makes sure text, logos and colours are prepared for the right substrate. That matters for shopfront signs, vehicle markings and directional signage where clarity is key.
Priya also helps clients who need artwork setup for new branches or sign replacements. If a client has existing branding that needs to be matched, she makes sure the finish is consistent across locations, whether the job is for Durban North Signs, Umhlanga Signs or Pinetown Signs.
Installations that work on real sites
Anele Dlamini, our Installations Lead, manages the fitting side of the business. He handles window installations, vehicle installation, shopfront installation, sign removals and maintenance visits across the region. A good installation is about more than lifting a sign into place, it is about access, alignment, fixings and making sure the job is safe and neat on the day.
On busy roads and coastal sites, conditions can change fast. Anele and the team plan for weather, building access and municipal site rules where needed, so the finished sign is secure and visible. That practical approach saves time and reduces call-backs later on.
- Site surveys before production starts
- Safe fitting on shopfronts, vehicles and windows
- Refurbishment, removals and maintenance work
Sales support that keeps clients informed
Lindokuhle Khumalo, our Sales Consultant, is often the first person clients speak to through the enquiry form on our contact page. He helps gather the right details for the quote, from sign size and material choice to site location and fitting needs. That includes jobs for Ballito Signs, Tongaat Signs, Verulam Signs and Phoenix Signs, where access and visibility can vary from one site to the next.
He works with the rest of the team to make sure clients get clear information on timing, process and what is needed from their side. It is a straightforward way of working, and it helps keep projects moving without confusion or missed details.
A Durban team built for practical sign work
What ties the BP Signs team together is a shared focus on useful, well-made signage that performs in local conditions. Durban humidity, strong sun and the odd storm can be hard on printed and fabricated signs, so the team chooses methods and finishes with the local environment in mind.
From a single window frosting job to a full site roll-out, the team works with the same habits: check the brief, measure properly, make it right and install it neatly. That approach has kept the business steady since 2008 and continues to serve customers across Briardene, Durban North and the wider KZN North Coast.
When clients need signage that looks tidy and lasts, they are dealing with a team that understands the work from every angle.
